About Us
The Baby Henry Co. is a small Canadian company that began in 2007 out of necessity and a father’s love for his daughter and wife.
Our Story
The Baby Henry Co. is a labour of love (literally!) that started the year our little angel was born.
Weighing a sturdy 8lbs, 6oz. and measuring 21 inches long, our “little” girl was the picture of serenity sleeping peacefully in her infant carrier as we prepared to take her home from the hospital that very first time. As with many parents, we quickly found out that serenity would only be found when our little one was snug in her infant carrier, being gently rocked or walked around the house and little did we know that “little” would soon seem much heavier then we could imagine.
Within a month or so we realized that although a life saving necessity and miracle sleep inducer, the infant carrier car seat was a heavy, cumbersome pain inducing mode of travel for both Mommy and Daddy. We were a family on the go, between trips to the doctors office, the pharmacy, the grocery store and parent and tot programs, I felt as though I was being abused on a daily basis by this throne that housed our daughter. I soon had sore wrists, sore arms, an aching back, bruised hips and a trail of bruises up and down both of my outer thighs. My massage therapist was seeing me more than anyone else. Sound familiar? Not only did my husband’s ears hurt from listening to my complaints, but he too was developing carpal tunnel syndrome from doing the one-handed forearm carry.
Until one summer’s day, while at a friend’s pool, my husband took a look at the trail of black and blue on my thighs and decided that was enough. Already a very handy and inventive person, he put his expertise in kinesiology and ergonomics to work and through trial and error and a great deal of test runs and input from both of our perspectives he developed the Angel Arm. A small, simple to use, carrying aid that is easy to use with all types of infant car seats. With the help of the Angel Arm the infant carrier became light, not cumbersome. It freed me up to pop into the store, get to baby classes on time, carry groceries or sooth our baby without the burden of getting out the heavy stroller or straining my back. The bruises disappeared and I no longer dreaded excursions out.
Hence, the birth of the Angel Arm. Daddy’s gift to Mommy and baby, now our gift to all parents and caregivers and those that care about their well-being.
